Wage Loss Concept

Los Angeles County Wage Loss Attorney

Our experienced workers' compensation law firm's founder, Lyle L. Blane, attorney at law, represents honest people with serious injury claims. Our special emphasis lies in assisting injured public service members in Los Angeles County.

We've been helping injured people like you for 42 years. Don't allow a board "hearing representative" to decide your case. Your issues warrant the participation of a seasoned workers' compensation advocate with a solid track record, like Attorney Lyle L. Blane.

Experienced, Competent, Focused Workers' Compensation Lawyer

If you are injured while working, the first obligation of your employer and its insurance carrier is to provide you with "reasonable and necessary" medical treatment. You should never see a bill for this treatment, which is intended to cure or relieve you of the effects of your job-related injury.

You may qualify to receive an award of lifetime medical care from a Workers' Compensation Appeals Board judge at the end of your case.

You are also typically entitled to receive a wage loss benefit called "temporary disability" if you miss any time from work. This is paid at two-thirds of your average weekly wage, up to $490 per week. That figure is the maximum dollar amount you can receive per week regardless of your previous income. The temporary disability payment is tax free.

Payments are not made for the first three days of your disability unless you are hospitalized or unable to work for more than 14 days. Once your physician releases you to return to work or declares your condition to be stable, the temporary disability benefit ends.

Public safety members are entitled to full salary for up to one year.

You may also be entitled to additional benefits, such as vocational and retraining benefits that cover schooling, counseling and supplies in case you need to seek another line of work due to your work-related injury. You may also be eligible for permanent disability benefits if your work-related injury results in a permanent handicap.

If the injury or illness results in death, then a benefit will be paid to any surviving dependents.

Our firm's fee is determined on a contingency basis, subject to approval by the state workers' compensation board. If you're an honest person with a serious injury claim and we can help you, we will.
